We are a Charitable Trust which means all the funds we raise get granted out to medical research being done on this disease and we require that the organizations we fund report back there findings to the trust.
What is it: Liver cancer begins in the tissues of the liver, an organ that sits in the upper right portion of the abdomen, beneath the diaphragm and above the stomach. The liver has many functions. It helps store nutrients from food, aids with digestion and clears toxins from the body. Liver cancer, also referred to as hepatic cancer, develops in the tissues of the liver. The most common type of cancer affecting the liver is hepatocellular carcinoma (hepatoma or HCC).
Why is the liver so important: The liver, one of the largest organs of the human body, is located below the right lung and under the ribcage. The liver has a variety of functions, including detoxification, breaking down fats, synthesizing proteins and aiding in digestion.
